Caleb De Jong reviews the exhibition Mary Corse: New Work at Lehmann Maupin Gallery, New York, on view through March 10, 2012.
De Jong writes: "A phenomenological experience only appreciable after soaking in the light and air of California, Corse's paintings are a trippy, Los Angeles attitudinal response to Agnes Martin's arid Taos grids. Digitally, Corse’s paintings appear ho-hum, but in person the work literally sparkles before the viewer’s eyes."
