Alyse Ronayne interviews painter Jordan Kasey whose exhibition Free Time was recently on view at Signal Gallery, Brooklyn.
Kasey comments: “I like when the finished painting represents something that I can’t quite put my finger on or explain to people. I like when there’s a sense of mystery that isn’t forced and contrived. I like when it feels real to me for some reason and I don’t even know if I get it. A lot of times, years later, I look back at paintings I’ve finished and I’m like ‘of course I did that then, wow, I was making myself so vulnerable and I didn’t even know’.”
