Started with the idea that there is a magazine about painting created everyday on the web, we are thrilled to say this has proved to be true. It is inspiring to see so many artists and critics writing daily about painting. In a month and a half Painters’ Table has been able to send more than 2,000 visits to more than 100 artist blogs and art websites. In 2011 we hope to drive even more traffic to bloggers while creating a comprehensive, enjoyable web publication about painting.

I want to thank all Painters’ Table readers for making this blog a success over the past two years and also to cordially invite everyone to the opening reception for an exhibition of my paintings at Elizabeth Harris Gallery in New York on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6 - 8 pm. The exhibition will run through February 2, 2013. A catalogue with an essay by Jennifer Samet will be available from the gallery.

Painters’ Table is one year old today! It's been exciting to follow the many fantastic painting blogs out there, and a privilege to feature them here. I look forward each morning to the new posts and blogs I will discover throughout the day and have enjoyed the conversations about art and painting the site has allowed me to have with readers and painters from all over the U.S. and beyond.

March 2011 featured many wonderful painting blog posts on diverse topics ranging from hard-edged abstraction to the Danish Golden age of figure painting and by a mix of established art writers and artist bloggers. Sadly, March also saw the passing of Gabriel Laderman, in my mind one of the most important painters of the last 50 years. Laderman's life and work were celebrated on-line several places most notably by Jed Perl and by painter Larry Groff on his blog Painting Perceptions.
March also saw the creation of a new section on Painters' Table: Artist to Artist. Artist to Artist features interviews and studio visits conducted by artist bloggers - artists talking to fellow artists about their studio practice, influences, and work.

February 2011, a month that saw a preponderance of painting exhibitions in New York also produced some instantly classic painting blog posts. Don't miss David Reed's riveting remembrance of Philip Guston at the New York Studio School, painter Sean Scully filmed at work in his studio, a collection of historic interviews with painter Louis Finkelstein, or James Elkin's close look at 'unfinished' paintings.
As well as looking back, the monthly most popular post is a chance to look forward. Painters' Table will launch a new section soon, tentatively called "Artist to Artist," to highlight the great interviews happening on artist blogs. More exciting changes are also in store to provide more community features so please stay tuned for those!
Finally thank you for continuing to support Painters' Table through blog submissions, Facebook "Likes" and comments, and tweets (and re-tweets).

The Blogroll is here. It took some time but this morning the Painters' Table blogroll was officially published. We hope over time the blogroll will grow into a resource for anyone interested in painting.
What is a blogroll?
Blogrolls are simply links to sites of potential interest to website visitors. The Painters' Table Blogroll is a growing list of Artist Blogs, Art Writer/Critic blogs, Art Websites and News Media that publish frequent posts and articles about painting. Browsing the blogroll is a great way to find new sites and view posts featured on Painters' Table.
What's different about the Painters' Table blogroll?
Rather than a simple list of links to other sites the Painters' Table blog roll is categorized (more categories on the way) and each blog or site has a page where you can find posts from that blog featured on this site. You will also find a direct link to the blog. If known we have tried to list blog authors as well.
I know a great painting blog and I don't see it listed.
The Blogroll is a living list of blogs and sites and it is far from complete. A new blog or site is normally added when Painters' Table features a post from it. Blogs, sites and new categories will be added frequently so check back often. As always you can submit a blog using the form at the top of any page. Painters' Table follows submitted blogs via RSS.

After spending years searching for and reading blog posts about painting I had the idea to create a website where visitors could grab links to the best painting posts of the day. I thought it was a great idea - that was over a year ago. I built the site and privately tinkered with various functionalities and ways of organizing content. Long story short – I read a great (non-painting) blog post last week about getting it out the door and so I did. Painters’ Table is live and one week old!
